The banned religious and political party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has staged a protest and given the government a two-day ultimatum for the release of its leader Hafiz Saad Rizvi.

According to details, the TLP’s Central Majlis-e-Shura gave a two-day ultimatum to the government. In April this year, an agreement was reached between the TLP and the government on other issues, including the release of Allama Saad Rizvi, which has yet to be implemented.

According to Tehreek-e-Labbaik, a peaceful sit-in is going on in Lahore. Responding to the TLP’s call, the sit-in participants said that the government had repeatedly violated the agreement instead of abiding by it.

“The points that were supposed to be fulfilled in three days, six months have passed, not a single condition has been fulfilled. They have been protesting peacefully for 15 days but no response has been received,” Tehreek-e-Labbaik added.

Giving an ultimatum to the government, the TLP said that they have seen protests without closing the roads. “If all the clauses of the agreement are not implemented in their true spirit, we will announce the next course of action on October 21,” the party further added.

Currently, a peaceful sit-in has been called, which has not yet yielded any positive results. Earlier, the detention of Hafiz Saad Rizvi, head of the TLP, was challenged in the Lahore High Court, with the Punjab provincial government and the Lahore city administration being party to the petition.

In a petition filed in the Lahore High Court five months ago, Hafiz Saad Rizvi’s uncle challenged the detention of Home Secretary, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, CCPO, and Superintendent Kot Lakhpat Jail.
